Parkview earns National Innovation Award from Avatar International

PUEBLO, Colo. -- Avatar International, an industry leader in healthcare quality improvement services, awarded Parkview Medical Center a Silver Innovation Award, at the 2012 Symposium held Thursday, May 31. Avatar International has a database of 450 hospitals nationwide and Parkview was one of eight to be recognized with this prestigious award.

Parkview was the recipient of the award based on a Five Star Initiative improvement process the medical center created to enhance customer service. The goal of the project was to improve Avatar customer satisfaction survey scores by establishing core initiatives that each department within the hospital could implement. In addition to greatly improving customer service scores, through these initiatives, Parkview also reduced patient falls, reduced patient stress, reduced patient anxiety and improved patient healing.

“Parkview’s success in innovating to improve the patient experience is extremely admirable,” said David Medvedeff, PharmD, MBA, CEO of Avatar. “Such efforts are worthy of being publicly recognized so that other organizations can create similar innovations.”

Award recipients were selected based on a panel of independently scored criteria that included degree of actual improvement, scope of change, degree of innovation, ability to spread idea externally and nature of barriers they had to overcome.

Avatar International also presented Parkview Medical Center four additional awards: The 2011 HCAHPS-Best Performer- Clean award; The Five Star Service – Loyalty & Endorsement award; Avatar’s Exemplary Service – Most Improved – Loyalty & Endorsement; and the Exceeding Patient Expectations award.
