Where:  Pueblo Mall, JCPenney Court, Dillon Dr., Pueblo, CO
When:  Saturday, February 23rd from 10am to 6pm

(Pueblo, CO February 19, 2013) –– Have you ever wondered what your heart looks like? How it works? What better way to understand how your heart works and how to increase heart health awareness than to actually walk through the body’s most important muscle. Parkview Medical Center is giving you the opportunity to tour AmeriHeart, a walk through, interactive heart exhibit that educates visitors on common heart diseases and features. Thanks to the generous sponsorship from Kaiser Permanente, this will be the first time the AmeriHeart has been in Colorado.

AmeriHeart will be a part of Parkview’s first HeartCaring® Event on Saturday, February 23rd at the Pueblo Mall. The event will also feature health screenings, heart healthy nutrition tips, and giveaways. Parkview Medical Center heart experts and HeartCaring clinicians will be on hand to answer your questions and help you learn what you can do to keep your heart healthy. This free event will be fun and educational for all ages.

Take a walk through AmeriHeart and learn all about your heart’s chambers, valves, arteries and veins. See what the medical condition described as a “hole in the heart” looks like. See what damage heart infection and heart disease can do. View a mitral valve defect. See how blood circulates. See what happens during a heart attack. Learn about coronary artery bypass and see what a stent look like. Check out the ribcage and listen to the heartbeat – both normal and A-fib. The world’s largest interactive, anatomically correct inflatable heart exhibit will be open for tours from 10am to 6pm.

Health screenings will be available from 7am to 10am. Screenings will include cholesterol, blood sugar, blood pressure and BMI. Screenings will be limited and the cost is $10 and the cholesterol screening will require a 10 hour fast.
