Overcoming Obstacles to be discussed at Dessert with the Docs

Parkview Medical Group will be hosting the monthly Dessert with the Docs program on Tuesday, September 2nd from 6:00 to 7:00 pm in Parkview’s Rosemont Room. Dessert with the Docs is a great opportunity to enjoy a healthy dessert while listening to a presentation about the latest healthcare information affecting you and your family.
Dr. Steven Kinnett will be presenting on overcoming obstacles and achieving independence at the September event. Dr. Kinnett, is the Medical Director of Parkview Center for Rehabilitation.  He received his bachelor’s degree from Houston Baptist University, and his medical degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine.  He held an internship at Temple and Albert Center in Denver, and was a resident in Rehabilitation Medicine at Temple University and Moss Rehabilitation Hospitals in Philadelphia.  Dr. Kinnett completed a fellowship at Craig Hospital in Englewood, Colorado with an emphasis in spinal cord injury, brain injury, and acute neurotrauma rehabilitation.
At age fourteen, Steven had his right leg amputated as a result of cancer.  Despite this setback, the ambitious young man became the Colorado State High School Still Rings Champion in gymnastics and currently excels in extreme activities such as scuba diving, snow skiing, base jumping, hackey sack, skydiving, and waterskiing.  He is a living inspiration to his patients and the rehab staff for 20 years.
Parkview’s Rehabilitation unit will also be featured in the Dessert with the Docs presentation. The comprehensive rehabilitation program is celebrating their 20th anniversary and Dr. Kinnett has served as the unit’s medical director since its inception.
