Parkview Medical Center Now Using the Most Advanced 3D High Definition Da Vinci Xi Robot in the World

Parkview Medical Center is committed to providing our community with the latest technology and procedures. We are pleased to announce the recent acquisition of the newest Intuitive da Vinci Xi robotic surgical system and surgical trainer. Parkview is the only facility in southern Colorado where the da Vinci Xi is available. The new system offers patients less invasive options and faster recovery.

“This state-of-the-art technology will allow our very talented group of general surgeons, gynecologists and urologists to offer more complex, minimally invasive abdominal and pelvic surgeries to our patients,” explained Parkview Medical Center CEO, Mike Baxter. “Pairing our experienced team of surgeons with the most advanced robotic surgical system available is an investment the community will benefit from for many years to come.”
The da Vinci Xi has broader capabilities than prior generations of the da Vinci surgical systems. The four armed robot, now offers a greater range of motion and reach. By enabling efficient access throughout the abdomen and chest, the da Vinci Xi System expands upon core da Vinci System features, including wristed instruments, 3D-HD visualization, intuitive motion, and an ergonomic design. The 3D-HD visualization gives surgeons a highly magnified view, virtually extending their eyes and hands into the patient.
“For a surgeon, the da Vinci Xi system allows extremely accurate visualization within the body cavity. Coupled with the dexterity of the instrument arms, this is an invaluable tool in improving the safety of operations and in increasing the complexity of what we can do with minimally invasive surgery,” said Dr. Sandeep Vijan, general surgeon. “This is a tremendous leap forward in bringing a new era of surgical care to Pueblo.”
The benefits to patients by using the robotic system include smaller incisions, less blood loss, less pain, less risk of infection, shorter hospital stays and a quicker return to work, not to mention the promise of less scarring. We anticipate significant improvements in patient satisfaction, as well as increased safety throughout the spectrum of surgery.
