Serving Our Great Community Through Our Mission

Mike Baxter, Parkview Medical Center President & Chief Executive Officer

Mike Baxter
President & CEO

On behalf of the Board of Directors, Parkview is proud to provide the 2013 annual community benefit report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2013.
Parkview’s mission is to “provide quality healthcare services and education to improve the health of the people that we serve.” As a locally governed community hospital, the goal of this report is to provide specific information demonstrating the hospital’s success in supporting this great mission.
Since it all began in 1923, Parkview Medical Center has provided hundreds of millions of dollars in charity care to people in the community. During the 2013 fiscal year, the tremendous need for this support was again significant. Pueblo County and the surrounding region continued to work through difficult economic times and Parkview’s charity care was over $77 million for the year. While we did see some positive economic gains, all indications still point to a very slow economic recovery for the Pueblo community and surrounding region for the 2014 fiscal year.
Working through these challenges, 2013 was another positive year for Parkview.  This year’s success can be directly linked to the strategic direction and support provided by the outstanding local volunteers serving on the boards of Parkview Medical Center, as well as the parent company _ Parkview Health System. Fulfilling Parkview’s mission will continue to be the driving focus for our board not only in fiscal 2014, but well into the future.
Along with Parkview’s board, the Medical Center has over 2,600 outstanding employees and more than150 incredible volunteers committed to making a positive difference in the lives of each one of our customers. Parkview remained Pueblo County’s largest private employer, and efforts continue to ensure that Parkview is not only the largest employer, but will remain the employer of choice for individuals seeking a career in healthcare.
On behalf of the employees and staff at Parkview Medical Center, we thank you for choosing Parkview and look forward to serving our great community in the upcoming year.
