Our Mission Continues
On behalf of the Board of Directors, Parkview is proud to provide our annual community benefit report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2014.
The mission of Parkview is to “provide quality healthcare services and education to improve the health of the people we serve.”  Focused on our mission, Parkview completed another successful year and this report provides information that makes evident the hospital’s success in supporting this great mission.
Since it all began in 1923, Parkview Medical Center has provided hundreds of millions of dollars in charity care to our community and Parkview continued this critical role the past fiscal year providing over $70 million in charity care and self-pay care. In fiscal 2014, there were small signs of improvement within the local economy, but regrettably there remain clear indications this slow recovery will continue through fiscal 2015.
Working through the region’s economic challenges, as well as, the changes that accompany the implementation of the next phases of the Affordable Care Act, fiscal 2014 was another positive year for Parkview.  Along with our board, I need to thank the more than 2,500 outstanding employees of Parkview for making this past year a success.
Today, Parkview remains one of only a few large community hospitals operating independently in Colorado. Parkview’s success can be directly attributed to an outstanding local governing board that makes decisions based on what is best for our great community and region.  These board members are committed to Parkview, but these individuals are Pueblo citizens first and then Parkview board members, easily prioritizing key decisions based on our community and region.
Also pictured on this page is Parkview’s free-standing emergency center in Pueblo West. This facility, along with the emergency center at Parkview, delivers care to over 80,000 people.  Parkview remains the region’s only Level II trauma center, always here for you and all your emergency needs.
On behalf of the outstanding employees and volunteers of Parkview, we thank you for choosing Parkview and look forward to serving our great community in the years ahead.
