Parkview Home Healthcare
Provides services primarily for homebound individuals with medical needs. Services include: Skilled Nursing, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Home Health Aide, and Medical Social Work. Medicare and Medicaid pay for the majority of this care, as well as some commercial insurances.

Meals-On-Wheels
Two meals are delivered by SRDA to the patient’s home from one to seven days a week. Those people receiving the meals are asked to voluntarily donate a small amount of money each month to help with the cost of food.

Respite Care
Gives relief to a patient’s caregivers. The care can be provided either at home, in a community nursing home or assisted living facility. Most insurance plans do not pay for respite care; however, the Medicaid Long-term Care program does pay for temporary nursing home placement for a short period of time.

Hospice Care
Certified hospice providers care for terminally ill patients in a home setting or an inpatient facility. Prior to enrolling in a hospice program, it must be determined by a physician, the patient has six months or less to live. Most insurance plans have hospice provisions.

Nursing Home Placement
Facilities provide both short-term and long-term care for infirmed patients. Medicare and Medicare supplemental plans can pay for skilled care that includes therapies for up to 100 days. Custodial, or non-skilled care, is covered for financially eligible individuals by Medicaid. For those not financially eligible, the cost of custodial care must be borne by the individual.

Durable Medical Equipment
This includes: walkers, canes, crutches, wheelchairs, bedside commodes, shower or bath benches and other specialty items. This equipment is available through several providers in our community. Additionally, home oxygen is included in this category. Coverage for these items varies from insurance to insurance but generally any bathroom items are not covered.

Assisted Living Placement
These facilities provide 24-hour supervision, meals, medication management and personal care for persons who are not able to independently care for their own needs. Most insurance plans do not cover the cost of an assisted living facility; however, Medicaid’s Long-term Care program will pay for this type of care.

Support Groups
There are many different support groups in our community. Some of the more well-known groups include Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, Stroke, Grief, Caregivers and Mental Illness.

Acute Rehabilitation
For patients requiring intensive rehabilitation including Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy and Recreational Therapy. Patients must be able to participate in three hours of therapy a day.

Long-term Acute Care
For patients requiring intensive care for a longer period of time than what is offered in most hospitals. This includes vent dependent patients and those individuals requiring extensive specialized wound care. There are no local long-term acute care facilities; most of them are located in the Colorado Springs or Denver area.
