(Pueblo, CO May 2, 2011) –– Parkview’s Spirit of Women program will host the “Hoopla about Pelvic Health” to educate women in Pueblo about pelvic health disorders on May 12 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Pueblo Country Club. The event will demystify symptoms, risk factors, prevention and management and treatment options - all aimed at improving quality and enjoyment of life for attendees. Both entertaining and informative, The Hoopla about Pelvic Health is designed to help women feel better and re-engage in life with optimum pelvic health.
“The goal of The Hoopla about Pelvic Health is to empower women to understand that pelvic health disorders are not a ‘normal’ part of aging, an inevitable consequence of childbirth or an acceptable consequence of menopause,” says Kirsten Taylor, Director of Health Initiatives and Spirit of Women at Parkview Medical Center.
“They are, however, manageable and often treatable. Parkview hosts these events to not only educate women about their options, but also to create an unparalleled environment of trust and fun in which women come together to share and solve their problems.”
Pelvic health disorders include problems affecting the reproductive system, the pelvis and the pelvic floor (the muscles, ligaments and connective tissue that provide support for a woman’s internal organs). Disorders range from fibroids to urinary incontinence and sexual dysfunction to weak pelvic bones and joints. Pelvic health disorders often go undiagnosed because women are either too embarrassed to discuss their symptoms with doctors or are unaware of their treatment options – The Hoopla about Pelvic Health is designed to change all that!
A presentation by Dr. Mahmoud from Eagleridge Women’s Healthcare will follow the evening’s mini Happy Hour. Besides pelvic health tips and information, the program will also include a hula hoop contest to test your core strength and a lesson on how to get the most out of Kegel exercises. Reserve your spot at this enjoyable and energizing event by calling 584-7324. Pre-registration is encouraged, space is limited.
