Aligning ourselves for the future

Latino Chamber of Commerce
Parkview joined the Latino Chamber of Commerce in 1992 and received the outstanding corporate member of the year award in 2001 for supporting the mission of the chamber and commitment to make a difference in the community.

Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce
Parkview has been an active member of the Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce since 1958. Throughout our membership, we have participated in numerous activities and special events through sponsorship opportunities including Business Expo and Business After Hours.

Legislative Breakfast
For many years, Parkview Medical Center has teamed with the Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce to offer chamber members a unique opportunity to meet with local legislators at the annual legislative breakfast series. Each year, Parkview and the chamber host four Saturday morning breakfast events during the legislative session. This is a great opportunity for the community to hear firsthand how legislation will affect their businesses and quality of life.

5 Million Lives Campaign
Parkview Medical Center is an active participant in the 5 Million Lives Campaign, a statewide effort to increase patient safety and reduce hospital mortality. The campaign is part of a nationwide effort to eliminate 5,000,000 incidents of harm to patients over 18 months. Parkview is one of 62 Colorado hospitals implementing safety procedures to enhance quality and improve patient safety. The campaign is based on six medical procedures including:
  • Deployment of Rapid Response Team
  • Medication Safety and Reconciliation
  • Improving Acute Myocardial Infarction Care
  • Prevention of Surgical Infections
  • Prevention of Central Line Infection
  • Prevention of Ventilator Acquired Pneumonia

In addition to the above procedures the 5 Million lives Campaign is focusing attention on the following interventions:
  • Prevent Harm from High Alert Medications
  • Reduce Surgical Complications
  • Prevent Pressure Ulcers
  • Reduce Methicillin – Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infection
  • Deliver Reliable, Evidence Based Care for Congestive Heart Failure
  • Get Boards on Board

Parkview Medical Center received a $50,000.00 grant from the Colorado Trust to assist our efforts in these six additional interventions.

Pueblo City-County Health Department is an important partner for Parkview Medical Center. We rely on one another to educate and communicate important healthcare information such as flu clinics and referrals. Our partnership also includes Pandemic Flu Preparation team, hand-washing programs to children throughout Pueblo City Schools, Steps to a Healthier Pueblo and the annual Pueblo Health Expo.

Institutional Review Board is responsible for the review, approval, and monitoring of research protocols involving human subjects. The primary focus is protecting the rights, safety, and well-being of human subjects. We pay special attention to informed consent documents required for each study. This board is regulated by the Department of Health and Human Services. The board is an independent body consisting of medical scientific and non-scientific members.

Good-Touch Bad-Touchİ
Good-Touch Bad-Touch is a comprehensive age-appropriate program that provides children preschool through sixth grade with knowledge and skills to help in protection against sexual abuse. The curriculum provides children with a comfortable and non-threatening way to talk about the sensitive and complex problem of sexual abuse, along with protective skills and information so they can participate in their own personal body safety. Three registered nurses from Parkview Medical Center are certified as facilitators and present this program to preschools, elementary and private schools, clubs and organizations throughout the community.

Moms on Medicaid (MOM) is a confidential Medicaid application site for prenatal and children’s services. MOM can help by obtaining early prenatal care and education. The program also assists in locating a physician, filing Medicaid applications, referrals to other community service assistance agencies and breastfeeding education. Parkview Medical Center supports this program as a designated eligibility site.

Good Dads Program
Good Dads Program provides assistance to men who have children and want to be involved in their lives in a positive way. Good Dads provides a understanding to the meaning of fatherhood, which includes parental rights, role model for fatherhood, relationship issues and anger management. Parkview Medical Center, in partnership with Catholic Charities of Pueblo, supports this program.
