Parkview Medical Center partners with National Jewish Health to offer Miner’s Clinic

Current and retired miners, including persons who have ever worked with uranium, are invited to take part in a free and confidential medical screening clinic for mining-related illnesses at ParkWest Medical Complex in Pueblo on Dec. 1 and 2. The clinics are provided by National Jewish Health, the nation’s #1 respiratory hospital since 1998. The screenings will help identify retired miners and uranium workers who may qualify for benefits through the federal government. Each screening includes a health questionnaire, physical exam, breathing test, and chest x-ray. Clinic staff also provides health and benefits counseling. Results letters are sent to participants and their primary physicians to assure follow up of any abnormalities identified. .
This clinic will also include the Radiation Exposure Screening and Education Program (RESEP) which helps people harmed by atmospheric nuclear weapons testing and employment in the uranium industry from 1941-1972.
The Miners Clinic of Colorado on Wednesday, December 1, and Thursday, December 2, at ParkWest Medical Complex at 3676 Parker Boulevard in Pueblo is free, but space is limited. Anyone interested should call 1.877.255.LUNG to schedule an appointment.
