Parkview received Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) site designation as determined by the Colorado Coalition Against Sexual Assault in October 2001 and is the only SANE program in southern Colorado. Our team of SANEs are trained, experienced, committed and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our SANEs have undergone extensive training and attend regular continuing education conferences and workshops. We work cooperatively with law Enforcement, the Pueblo Child Advocacy Center, and the victim’s advocate agencies such as Rape Crisis Services and ACOVA to provide an immediate and competent response to this terrorizing event in the victim’s life. Rapid and appropriate response is crucial to reducing the immediate trauma that the victim experiences as well as improving their potential for long term recovery.
If you or someone you know has been sexually assaulted, report the incident to law enforcement immediately. Go to Parkview Medical Center where there are Sexual Nurse Examiners available 24 hours a day 7 days a week. A nurse examiner will provide care for you and a Rape Crisis advocate will be there to support you. The examination will include the collection of forensic evidence, so you shouldn't bathe or shower, change clothes, eat drink or urinate (if possible) before the hospital examination.
