Parkview keeps patients connected – WI FI service now available
PUEBLO, Colo. (February 26, 2008)--- Parkview Medical Center is pleased to now offer free wireless internet access throughout the facility including patient rooms and waiting areas. Wireless access allows patients, visitors, physicians and staff, reliable access to the internet and the ability to check email through an easy connection process.
“Parkview’s Information Services team has worked very hard to bring this service to our patients and their families,” explained Dave Eldridge, Senior Network Engineer. “It will provide our patients with a convenient way to stay connected with their friends and family during their hospital stay.”
Guests must bring their own wireless enabled device with Wi Fi support in order to connect. Instructions for accessing the service are posted in the hospital and are on the hospital website. Guests simply need to start with a Wi Fi enabled device like a laptop or PDA equipped with an internet browser. The wireless network is separate from Parkview’s secure network to prevent unauthorized access to confidential patient information and other sensitive material.
“Parkview’s wireless network will connect patients with loved ones who are unable to visit and it will allow patients, as well as their visitors, to stay up to date with what is happening at their place of business,” Tim Winters, Telecom Analyst said. The wireless network also provides entertainment and a diversion during hospital stays.
