Parkview Foundation helping scholars get into scrubs


Parkview Foundation is helping local healthcare students with $37,500 in scholarships for the academic year of 2011-2012. The five available scholarships range from $500 to $5,000 and students must be enrolled in an accredited healthcare or nursing program.

Scholarships are given directly to the school and some with an allowance for a laptop or books whichever the student may prefer. For thirty years, Parkview Foundation has made it a goal to help educate healthcare students in the region to ensure a great healthcare future for southern Colorado’s community by providing the scholarship program. Funding for the scholarship program comes from Parkview Foundation’s golf tournament and donations.

This year’s healthcare scholarship recipients are:


    Audrey Duran – Colorado State University- Pueblo

    Aaron Rochester – Colorado- State University - Pueblo

    Bradi Vega-Pueblo Community College

    Julie Cline –Colorado State University - Pueblo

    Torrence Drakeford –Colorado State University- Pueblo

    The recipients of nursing scholarships are:

    Greg Charleston –Colorado Technical University - Pueblo

    Toni Kittinger-Regis University

    Lorraine Martinez- Pueblo Community College

    Chulou Penales- Colorado State University-Pueblo

    Rebecca Hearst – Western Governor’s University

    Karla Richardson – Trujillo – University of Colorado at Colorado Springs – Beth- El College of Nursing & Health Sciences

    Misty McAllister – Colorado State University- Pueblo

    Tyler Stowers – Colorado State University – Pueblo

    Modestar Liyokho – Colorado State University - Pueblo



“Since 1981, Parkview Foundation has awarded over $550,000 in scholarships,” Explains Lisa Siegel, Parkview Foundation and Marketing Director. “Every student we can help achieve a degree in nursing, we view as a remarkable accomplishment for our community.”

Parkview Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization that promotes the fiscal stature of Parkview Medical Center. The foundation’s primary mission is to solicit, preserve and monitor those funds it generates for the medical center and to assist the medical center in the completion of its mission,
vision and values.
