Parkview Medical Center Offers Strike Out Stroke Presentation

PUEBLO, Colo. (May 5, 2010)--- If someone experienced a sudden stroke, would you recognize it and know what to do? This May, make a commitment to learn the stroke warning signs. Stroke is a medical emergency and can happen to anyone, at any time and at any age. Parkview Medical Center is dedicated to Strike Out Stroke during national stroke awareness month. Stroke is the third leading cause of death and the leading cause of adult disability in America.
Educating the community on stroke risk factors and prevention is a priority for the Parkview’s Certified Stroke Center. The Stroke Center is proud to offer the community a free educational seminar entitled, “Strike Out Stroke.” The presentation will be on Tuesday, May 18th from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm at Park West Cardiology Building located at 3670 Parker Blvd.
The presentation will include an educational presentation by Dr. Gary Cohen. Dr. Cohen, Pueblo's newest board certified neurologist, came to Pueblo from Centennial, Colorado where he has been in private practice as well as serving as Assistant Professor of Neurology at Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Cohen graduated medical school from The George Washington University and specializes in stroke care, headaches and neuropathic pain, demyelinating diseases, and electromyography and electroencephalography. Dr. Cohen will be practicing with Parkview Neurology Services and can be reached at 719.595.7760.
