AgeWise
Welcome! Health Initiatives at Parkview Medical Center is proud to offer this free membership program to persons age 55 and over. This program allows us to continue to meet our mission to improve health and quality of life for seniors in Pueblo and outlying communities.

As a member of AGEWISE, you receive the ScriptSave Prescription Discount Card, guaranteeing the lowest price possible on every drug purchased at participating pharmacies. Seniors, who do not have an insurance policy paying a portion of medication bills, will receive direct savings on their medications by using the ScriptSave pharmacy discount card. The ease and convenience of using the card, with no limits on usage and no income or age restrictions, perfectly complements any type of coverage you may have.
This program is not an insurance policy and does not provide insurance coverage.

Periodic newsletters that focus on issues that concern all of us regardless of age.

Educational programs, such as the Driver Refresher Course (participants who complete the course may receive a reduction in their automobile insurance premiums).

AGEWISE members will be surveyed periodically so that courses are designed according to the member's preferences and needs.

Free insurance counseling is provided to seniors by Parkview volunteers who have been specially trained by the Colorado Gerontological Society. Counselors provide information about Medicare benefits and supplemental insurance coverage, and can analyze insurance policies in order to help seniors file claims, organize paperwork, appeal Medicare decisions, and assist in making appropriate referrals to community agencies.

Periodic health screenings are open to members at a reasonable cost and some at no cost.

Smoking cessation classes are offered to members. These 4-session classes are co-sponsored by Parkview Medical Center through the Pueblo City-County Health Department. Free quit-smoking assistance is also available to inpatients on the day you are admitted to Parkview. Tell the admissions specialist you would like to receive this assistance and a staff member will contact you during your stay.

AGEWISE members will also enjoy the many programs available to seniors through our existing inpatient and outpatient services including:
  • Parkview Homecare. A team of healthcare professionals serving individuals and families in their homes.
  • Diabetes Care Center. Helping people with diabetes make informed choices for a healthy lifestyle.
  • Wound Center. A team of experienced doctors and nurses who combine knowledge in all areas of wound management in order to care for persons with wounds that have resisted healing.
  • Center for Rehabilitation. Providing services to begin the process enabling patients to regain strength. Learn coping methods, and increase knowledge of how to overcome problems with day-to-day functioning.
  • Sleep Center. Specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders in children and adults.

Check the AGEWISE newsletter for information on health, retirement, and community resources of interest to seniors. We welcome input and ideas from our members regarding educational topics and expanded services and benefits.
