AARP Sponsored Driver Refresher Course
The AARP Driver Refresher course is an 8-hour classroom course for experienced motorists age 50 and older. The program, which was developed by the American Association of Retired Person’s (AARP), addresses the physical changes that can affect driving ability and behavior, and looks at ways to compensate for those changes.
The curriculum is designed to remind drivers of skills and techniques they once learned but perhaps fail to use regularly, and to update drivers on the rules of the road. The driver refresher course teaches drivers about the normal, age-related changes that interfere with vision, hearing, and physical strength that typically influence driving ability and attitudes, and the impact of medications when driving. A certified AARP instructor will teach the class.
Colorado rewards safe drivers with automobile insurance savings. Insurance companies have varying requirements. There will be a $10 charge for the booklet and a three-year certification of attendance. Checks or cash accepted only. Bring your current Colorado driver’s license.
