Parkview Medical Center supports the job shadowing experience for students interested in exploring careers in healthcare where a physician is in agreement of the student’s observation during their visit.
Students who are 18 years of age or older enrolled in accredited colleges/universities or other medical training classes may visit the hospital and tour select areas and speak with other healthcare professionals on a request basis through the Health initiatives Department, S.T.E.P. Coordinator.
The individual who wishes to job shadow a staff member/physician shall submit a written request for permission in advance to the S.T.E.P. Coordinator in the Health Initiatives Department.
They must complete an application for hospital record and indicate their area of interest and/or specific physician they will be shadowing for approval and coordination of the visit.
The student must bring a letter of recommendation that can be confirmed and is required to attend an orientation.
Proof of a current Tuberculosis (TB) test must be presented before coordination of the visit.
If shadowing a physician, a sponsorship agreement to include responsibility/direction of observation including patient authorization must be obtained and presented by the student. |
