Parkview Medical Center expanding to Pueblo West
Parkview Medical Center is pleased to announce that it has purchased of 35 acres of land in Pueblo West, on the corner of Purcell Blvd and Industrial Blvd. Parkview’s intent for the land will be to initially construct an 18,000 square foot, one story building, to be used as a 24/7 emergency and outpatient facility, including laboratory and radiology services. “The building will be designed with future growth in mind,” Smith explained. If the community need for healthcare services continues to grow, Parkview will explore expanding the building to meet the service need.
Parkview will begin construction on the facility on November 19, 2007. If construction goes as planned, the facility will be open by late 2008.
“We believe that this facility will serve the healthcare needs of the population of Pueblo West as well as the neighboring communities along Highway 50 West,” Smith continued.
The Emergency Department at the Pueblo West campus will be staffed by board certified Emergency Department physicians. If a patient is in need of a higher level of care, they will be transported to Parkview Medical Center or the appropriate healthcare facility.
“The community is ready to embrace and welcome Parkview Medical Center,” stated Pueblo West Metro Board Director Butch Batchelder at a recent Pueblo West Metro Board meeting. “This is a milestone for Pueblo West.” Pueblo West Metro Board Director Stan Hren also added, “I am excited about the project and it is great to have the quality of Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo West.”
Pueblo West has seen substantial and continued growth for the last five years. With that growth, Parkview sees an increased need for healthcare services in Pueblo West. Parkview feels bringing additional services to Pueblo West will enhance healthcare in the area as well as create a level of convenience, for those not only living in Pueblo West, but also the neighboring communities along Highway 50 West.
The anticipated cost of phase one of the facility will be $13 million. This cost includes the land purchase, infrastructure, roads, construction and hospital equipment. H&L Architecture designed the building and Houston HW Construction Company will be the contractor.
