Parkview Medical Center has been been educating students of southern Colorado with the Too Fast, Too Furious, Too Deadly program for two years. Too Fast, Too Furious, Too Deadly Injury Prevention Program is sponsored by the Rocky Mountain Regional Trauma Center at Denver Health with support from State Farm Insurance and the Hill Foundation.
Utilizing a crash reenactment video and program guide, this presentation focuses on teen drinking and distracted driving to reinforce the dangers and decisions teens are faced with while driving.
The 19 minute Too Fast, Too Furious, Too Deadly video was created by teens for teens. This video focuses on a typical high school activity—a Friday night football game. Common themes discussed in the video include alcohol, lack of seat belt use, driver distractions, multiple passengers, speeding, lack of driving experience and adherence to traffic laws.
The crash reenactment portrayed in this video involves a real life teen car crash scenario with multiple injuries, fatalities, and consequences. Actual 911 dispatch and response by Denver police, fire, paramedics, medical examiner and emergency department staff make the video realistic and dramatic. Teen survivors of similar crashes, and their families, provide a recollection of events surrounding their experiences.
