(Pueblo, CO May 18, 2016) – Parkview Medical Center invited the public to come fly with Da Vinci.
The Pueblo Mall hosted a model of the Da Vinci XI surgical robot from noon to 7 p.m., May 25, and patrons had the chance to see how Parkview’s top surgeons employ the latest technology to get patients on the road to recovery faster and safer.
Parkview Medical Center is the only hospital in the region with the latest model of the Da Vinci machine, which features four mechanical arms that are controlled by a surgeon who can view the work being done on the patient in three dimensions and in real time.
Folks who came by the display had a chance to see just what that means when they were allowed to test drive the instrument controls to unwrap candy and play other games.
The event was free, open to all ages and a showcase of STEM fields.
In addition to the hands-on learning opportunities, people talked to surgeons and members of Parkview’s robotic surgery team to get more information about the technology and get their questions answered.
There are 15 surgeons in Pueblo who have been using this advanced technology for more than a year, helping people get back on their feet.
The applications for Da Vinci XI include general surgery, urology, OB/GYN and cardiothoracic surgery. Parkview Medical Center provides all four areas of care.
