Parkview Medical Center and Health Solutions Host Inaugural Symposium on Pain Management
Parkview Medical Center, in partnership with Health Solutions hosted its inaugural Symposium on Pain Management in May.
The symposium was attended by more than 100 health care professionals from throughout the state of Colorado.
The daylong event was geared toward educating health care providers on trends, techniques and alternatives to managing pain beyond prescription medications.
The symposium featured speakers in a variety of health care fields from emergency medicine to physical therapy to behavioral health.
The event’s keynote speaker was Steve Goldrick of the International Spine and Pain Institute. The morning also featured brief remarks from Colorado Lieutenant Governor Donna Lynne on how pain medication abuse is impacting Colorado communities, particularly those in Southeastern Colorado.
The emcee for the event was Dr. Erin Ashby, a clinical psychologist with Parkview Medical Center.
“This is a chance to help local health care providers engage in new ways of thinking about pain management that will hopefully generate momentum and positive changes for our community,” Ashby said.
