Parkview Mobile Nurses Provide Flu Shots for Community
On a cold and dreary Tuesday morning, the Parkview Mobile Nurses held their annual flu shot clinic at the Pueblo West Emergency Room.
The nurses spent the morning distributing vaccines in a drive-up flu clinic outside of the ER then came back that evening for a more traditional clinic inside the building.
Between the two clinics, the nurses dispensed more than 200 vaccines.
But there’s more to come.
The nurses will have another flu shot clinic next month, from 4 to 6 p.m., Nov. 13 at the Pueblo West ER. The shots are free for Medicare Part B patients and $25 for everyone else.
Cash, check and credit cards will be accepted as forms of payment and the nurses urge folks to wear a short-sleeved shirt.
While immunization is the best way to prevent the flu, there are ways to bolster your immune system to add extra layers of protection this season. The nurses suggest four or five servings of fruit and vegetables a day, lots of Vitamin D through Pueblo’s abundant sunshine, stay hydrated, get between six and eight hours of sleep and fins ways to decrease stress.
