Parkview ER Waiting Room open, ER expansion under way

(Pueblo, CO, Feb. 13, 2019) – This week, Parkview Medical Center officially opened the new waiting room for its emergency department at the main hospital downtown.

Finishing the waiting room marks the first step in a multiphase process that will end with a greatly expanded Emergency Room Downtown, nearly twice the size of the current emergency department by 2020.

Er Waiting areaThe ER expansion is the capstone to a five-year master plan for Parkview, which has included the opening of a state-of-the-art Outpatient Center a block away from the hospital and the relocation of most of Parkview Medical Center’s Diagnostic Imaging Services to the hospital’s second floor.

Families and friends of patients in the ER, as well as patients themselves who walk into the emergency room, are asked to use the new, marked entrance to the south end of the valet driveway.

There is a new security checkpoint built into the new entrance and visitors will have to go through a metal detector before proceeding into the waiting room.

Checkpoints in the main entrance to the hospital, on the Skybridge crossing Grand Avenue from the parking garage, and on the Greenwood Avenue entrance will remain in place.

Parkview Medical Center appreciates the public’s patience as we continue to grow and make improvements to respond to the critical needs of our community.
