Parkview Foundation Announces Starburst Award Winners

Continuing with tradition and the pursuit of excellence since 1983, the Parkview Foundation has announced the winners of the Starburst Awards.  The Starburst Awards recognizes employees for their outstanding contributions in customer service, patient care and/or quality improvement efforts. 

Clinical, Sunshine, Moon Beam and Parkview Way Team Award comprise the four categories of the Starburst Awards.  Nominees must be employed by Parkview Medical Center for a minimum of one year and should consistently demonstrate the values of the organization: honesty and integrity, accountability, respect, teamwork and stewardship. 

Clinical (Any employee who performs direct patient care)

The 2020 Clinical Starburst winner is Medical Assistant, Anna Roybal.  Anna is described as the employee who is always a step ahead.  She is professional, insightful and always looks for creative resources to meet the needs of patients.  The patients are always the first priority to Anna.  She always has open lines of communication between patients and staff and engages with valuable information while maintaining the utmost professionalism.  She is the true center of the 2 North floor.    

Sunshine (Any day shift employee who is not involved in direct patient care)

Suzette Boyer, Registered Nurse and Sepsis Program Coordinator is the 2020 Sunshine Award winner.  Known for her positive attitude and authenticity, Suzette leads a multi-disciplinary group of individuals to enhance care for the sepsis team.  She has earned the respect of her peers and is a role model in her field.  She has increased the sepsis bundle compliance from 45% to more than 60% in eighteen months and has accomplished a reduction in sepsis re-admission rates from 30% down to 10%.  She is reliable and always willing to lend an extra hand.  

Moon Beam (Any employee who works nights)

A contagious smile, vibrant presence and an exceptional attitude are just a few positive characteristics that describe Linda Sears, Environmental Services Technician and winner of the 2020 Moon Beam Award.  Linda always makes herself available to provide the highest quality of service to patients and staff.  Her hard work inspires others to do the same and she takes pride in her craft.  Linda continually exceeds expectations and works diligently to improve processes.   The patients and staff will always find Linda at her best and encouraging others to do the same. 

Parkview Way Team Award (A group of employees as a team or department who demonstrate one of the five values of Honest & Integrity, Accountability, Respect, Teamwork or Stewardship by living the Parkview Way)

This team could be nominated every year for the high-quality care they provide to patients on a daily basis.  However, 2020 has been challenging for everyone and this team consistently went above and beyond.  The 2020 Parkview Way team award goes to 5 East and 5 Tower Nursing Units.  These nursing floors adapted, innovated and thrived during the COVID-19 global pandemic.  The staff showed zero hesitation as COVID-19 care emerged as an entirely new specialty.  Additionally, they worked together with determination when one of the floors had to become a COVID floor overnight.  The staff embraced the challenges put upon them and remained passionate about patient care while continually looking for ways to improve.  It is their dedication, commitment and remarkable atttitudes that names them the Parkview Way team award winners.
