Updates to Parkview’s Visitor Policy
(PUEBLO, December 22, 2020) – Parkview is currently at a no visitor policy. An updated exception has been added for the emergency department. See below for details.
Below is an outline of the policy and those who meet the exception criteria.
Exceptions for Visitors:
Emergency Department-Emergency Department patients may have one visitor. Although, patients with COVID symptoms or known positives may not, except in special circumstances.
- Patient and visitor have to wear a mask at all times
- Visitor must stay in patient's room at all times
- Visitor is not allowed to go anywhere else in the hospital, including the cafeteria and coffee shop
- If patient is admitted to the floor, visitor is not allowed to accompany patient to the floor
- At this time, the Emergency Department is the only area allowed to have 1 visitor
End of life – This will be coordinated with staff on the hospital floor. Visitors will be expected to wear a mask. The visitors must stay in the room for the duration of their stay. Hand washing upon entering and leaving the room is mandatory.
Labor and Delivery – only one visitor or birthing partner. Visitors will be expected to wear a mask. The visitors must stay in the room for the duration of their stay. Hand washing upon entering and leaving the room is mandatory.
Special needs patients may have one parent or adult caretaker in the room. They will be expected to wear a mask. Hand washing upon entering and leaving the room is mandatory.
Additional Visiting Rules
Visitors with cold (cough, sore throat, runny nose, shortness of breath) or flu symptoms (fever, chills, body aches) are not allowed in Parkview buildings, unless for medical care.
Visitors meeting the exception must enter through the main entrance of the hospital on Grand Street. The parking garage will continue to be open but the sky bridge will be closed. Visitors will need to take the elevator down to the first floor and come across the street to the main entrance on Grand Street.
All visitors meeting the exception criteria will be scanned for temperatures by Parkview personnel. This effort will ensure visitors entering are not symptomatic of cold, flu or COVID-19.
