Parkview Earns National Recognition for Improving Heart and Diabetes Care
Parkview has received the American Heart Association’s Heart Failure Gold Plus Award and Honor Roll for Type 2 Diabetes.
The Gold Plus award recognizes Parkview’s commitment to ensuring heart failure patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines founded in the latest scientific evidence. The goal is speeding recovery and reducing hospital readmissions for heart failure patients. To qualify for Type 2 Honor Roll for diabetes, Parkview met quality measures developed with more than 90 % of compliance for 12 consecutive months for the “Overall Diabetes Cardiovascular Initiative Composite Score.”
“Parkview is dedicated to improving the quality of care for our patients with heart failure by implementing the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines-Heart Failure initiative,” stated Leslie Barnes, President and CEO. “The end goal is to ensure more people in Pueblo and southern Colorado can experience longer, healthier lives.”
There are six levels of achievement in the American Heart Association- Gold Plus, Gold, Silver Plus, Silver, Bronze and Participating. To qualify, Parkview must demonstrate how we are committed to providing quality care for heart failure patients. In addition to following treatment guidelines, Parkview also provides education to patients to help them manage their heart failure once at home.
More than 6.5 million adults in the United States are living with heart failure. Many heart failure patients can lead a full, enjoyable life when their condition is managed with proper medications or devices and with healthy lifestyle changes.
