Parkview Welcomes New Graduates with Pinning Ceremony

(PUEBLO, May 20, 2021) – Eight new nursing graduates were honored by Parkview with a special nurse pinning ceremony.  The pinning ceremony is a special and unique ceremony that is held in high regard within the nursing community.  The ceremony is symbolic of nursing students’ hard work and dedication to their coursework, clinical rotations and commitment to patient care. 

Welcome remarks were made by Leslie Barnes, President and CEO, and Renee Elwell, Chief Nursing Officer.  Jaclyn Vaught, RN/MSN and Director of Quality and Safety, gave a special presentation on not only the history of nursing, including Florence Nightingale’s roots within the profession, but also nursing history at Parkview.  Rhonda Lewis, RN and Director of Diabetes and Cardiopulmonary Rehab, announced the new graduates.  The graduates selected a person who helped them through their education and training to pin them.  The ceremony concluded with Andrea Quintana, RN and Director of 4 East and 4 South Floors leading the new graduates and current RN’s with reciting the nursing pledge.

Erin Murphy (Pueblo Community College, Fremont)

Lindsey Trujillo (Pueblo Community College, Fremont)

The registered nurses will begin their career at Parkview in various locations throughout the hospital.
