Parkview Discover brings national recognized women’s health speaker to Pueblo

(Pueblo) March 15, 2022 Parkview Health System is proud to announce the upcoming Signature Event by Breast Cancer Surgeon & Women’s Health Warrior Dr. Kristi Funk on June 16, 2022.

Dr. Funk will be the featured speaker at the “Ladies and Lemons” Signature Luncheon Event held at the Pueblo Convention Center. Her keynote presentation is titled “Breast Health for Life: It’s Up to You!”

Kristi Funk, MD is a board-certified breast cancer surgeon & physician, bestselling author of the book “Breasts: The Owner’s Manual”, international keynote speaker and women’s health advocate. As an ambassador and avid contributor to the Pink Lotus Power Up community, Dr. Funk frequently authors Breast Cancer 101 blogs, shares recipes like her famous Antioxidant Smoothie, and provides instructional videos on breast and women’s health.

“I cannot say enough positive things about Dr. Kristi Funk. She is a passionate Women’s Health physician and we are so lucky to have her come to Pueblo, Colorado,” said Parkview Community Outreach coordinator Jeanette Micheli.

In addition to a fantastic lunch, every attendee at the event will receive a copy of her latest book “Breasts: The Owner’s Manual” - which is full of ways women can empower themselves to reduce their breast cancer risk, reduce recurrence risk if they are a cancer survivor, and educate those newly diagnosed or living with the disease.

“Dr. Funk’s book is a must read”, according to Micheli. “She speaks directly to you, making you feel safe and secure navigating through the unknown. I feel it is so important to education the community on the importance of mammogram screenings - especially during the pandemic many women may have not gotten their mammogram screening or delayed it.”

“This event will be life changing! Attendees will leave with a new-found energy to take charge of their health.”, added Micheli.

Reservations for this Signature Event can be made by calling 719-584-4760 or by visiting the website at parkviewmc.com/lemons.

Dr. Funk has helped thousands of women through breast cancer treatment, including well-known celebrities, like Angelina Jolie and Sheryl Crow, who have turned to her for her surgical expertise.

After graduating with distinction in Psychology from Stanford University in 1991, Dr. Funk received her medical degree from the UC Davis, School of Medicine, in 1996. She then completed her 5-year general surgery residency in Seattle, followed by a surgical breast fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where she then thrived as a surgeon and Director of their breast center for another 7 years. In 2009, Dr. Funk opened the Pink Lotus Breast Center in Beverly Hills, which at the time became the first breast cancer center of its kind, fusing state-of-the art screening, genetic testing, diagnosis and surgical treatment with preventive strategies and holistic, compassionate care – all under one roof.
