Parkview Health System, CSU Pueblo Athletics Move Forward Together to Bolster Health and Wellness
PUEBLO, Colo. (June 24, 2022) – Colorado State University Pueblo Athletics and its longtime corporate partner Parkview Health System are expanding their collaboration with an emphasis of improving the overall health and wellness of students, student-athletes and the public.
The expanded partnership will bolster the experience of our student-athletes, enhance CSU Pueblo's athletic competitiveness and provide the comprehensive athletics department with the staff and services needed to support over 640 student-athletes in 21 varsity sports.
"We are thrilled to extend our partnership with Parkview Health System," says Dr. Paul Plinske, Vice President for Athletics and Strategic Partnerships. "Parkview is a significant healthcare provider in southern Colorado and we could not be more grateful for their leadership, engagement and support."
Parkview Health System has been the exclusive healthcare provider for CSU Pueblo Athletics since 2019 and has offered care to over 1,700 Pack student-athletes in that time.
Plinske continued and stated, "We are expanding to meet the holistic needs of our student-athletes in sport performance, nutrition, mental health and wellness and sports medicine. Parkview's physicians are the best in the business and help our student-athletes return to competition at a high level. We are very excited about the future with this incredible organization."
The continued partnership and expanded cooperation will include events and awards for both CSU Pueblo and Parkview Health System.
Such events and awards will include, but are not limited to, a Parkview employee appreciation movie night held at the CSU Pueblo ThunderBowl and a weekly "Parkview Health System Lifter of the Week" award to be given out to student-athletes seen on social media platforms. This is all part of an expanded 3-year agreement between the two organizations.
Parkview Health System has been the exclusive healthcare provider for CSU Pueblo Athletics and will continue its exclusivity in the future thanks to continued collaboration.
"The continued partnership between Colorado State University Pueblo athletics and Parkview Health System benefits both organizations," said Parkview President and CEO Leslie Barnes. "CSU Pueblo athletics receives outstanding care by our team of fellowship trained providers. The university's athletic program has been a tool for recruiting providers as well. We also look forward to the continuing partnership and the educational opportunities provided by our medical and orthopedic staff to train and mentor Sport Performance and Sports Medicine staff at CSU Pueblo."
Dr. Jennifer FitzPatrick and Dr. Lucas King have each helped lead the partnership with CSU Pueblo and Parkview Health Systems supplying aid and care to Pack Athletics.
Both FitzPatrick and King expressed their excitement for the expanded partnership. FitzPatrick stated, "The privilege of caring for CSU Pueblo student-athletes is one of my passions, stemming from my own days as a college athlete."
The doctor finished by saying, "the continued institutional backing of Parkview allows us to take things to the next level, with cutting edge technology."
King reinforced FitzPatrick and said, "CSU Pueblo athletes are some of the most dedicated individuals I've worked with. It is an honor to earn their trust in helping them regain their ability to perform at their highest level."
Parkview Health System will also prove vital in providing nutritional resources for Pack student-athletes as well as aiding Sport Performance and Sports Medicine staff.
