Parkview offers loan repayment for PCC pharmacy tech grads
PUEBLO – (August 3, 2022) Parkview Health System will provide tuition reimbursement for graduates of the Pueblo Community College pharmacy technician program who become Parkview employees.
“Parkview recognizes the need for quality educated and trained pharmacy technicians at both our main campus and the new Parkview Pueblo West,” said Carl Swithers, vice president of ancillary services for Parkview. “We appreciate the ongoing collaboration with Pueblo Community College to provide tuition reimbursement for this important program.”
Graduates of the program who are hired for a full-time pharmacy technician position with Parkview can provide their student loan vendor information to the hospital. Parkview then will pay off the balance in full over a three-year period for loans related specifically to the cost of the pharmacy tech program.
“We’re so grateful to Parkview for their continuing partnership and support in offering this valuable benefit to our students,” said Andrew Miller, PCC’s dean of health professions and public safety. “Not only will our graduates fulfill a vital role in the health care system, they will be able start their careers with less worry about the financial burden.”
Pharmacy technicians assist pharmacists in fulfilling prescription orders. PCC’s two-semester program offers instruction in basic pharmacy theories; students attend lectures and labs and get hands-on experience at local retail and hospital pharmacies. Graduates are eligible to take the national certification exam.
The deadline to apply for the next pharmacy technician program is Aug. 8. For information, visit pueblocc.edu/programs/pht, call 719-549-3198 or email Bonnie.Housh@pueblocc.edu.
