Biography

Dr. Alan Bickel is a Board-Certified Urologist, caring for patients at Urology Consultants PC since 1992.   He earned his medical degree from Texas A&M University.   He completed residency training at LSU Medical Center.   He earned his Urology Registrar during his training at City Hospital, Nottingham, England.   He has extensive experience in treating various urology conditions, illnesses, and injuries as well as extensive experience in minimally invasive surgery for treatment of complex urologic disease.   When not helping his patients, you can find him either scuba diving or ballroom dancing with his wife.

This was one of the best visits I have had with Doctor Bickel. He seems more relaxed and talkative.

The doctor ran in and as fast as he possibly could and stated a few things, asking me two questions and then ran back out of the room.

The nurse that took my blood was inexperienced and stuck me twice, and said I had rolling veins. I give blood pretty regular. I never had a problem. I think she needs more experience before she does that again to anybody. She did bring someone in that did first class blood draw, first time, but the young lady that started needs more experience.

I was reassured that a physician MD was responsible for rendering medical services, as opposed to an NP or PA.

Dr. Bickel wanted a PSA blood test and they called us the Friday before his appointment on Tuesday to have this lab work done. We would have had to go to Pueblo (we do not live in Pueblo, 50 mile round trip) to LabCorp (where they have a hard time getting his blood-he is a hard stick). We get all of his blood work done in Colorado Springs at Memorial Hospital (120 mile round trip) where they do not have a problem getting his blood. We go twice a year for blood work where they do not have to stick him multiple times. To call on a Friday when his appointment is the next Tuesday is not acceptable. He sees Dr. Bickel one a year. This is not reasonable for us. We did have a PSA done in January, so they used that.

I believe that the medical staff did a really good job... paying attention to the needs, that, that I needed... listening to, listen to the issues that I have with my body and reacting accordingly and doing a good job with the surgery.

Where do I start. The doctor spent under 5 minutes with me. Never sat down. Stood at the doorway with a paper in his hand as if he was in a hurry. He asked what my age was twice, though he wrote it down the first time. He obviously hadn't read my chart or paid attention to what the nurse had written either. The exam he did lasted literally 2 seconds. Though I told him I was having pain and discomfort, he never asked me where it was. He was very dismissive. I will be asking for another doctor in the future.

Not a single thing! Dr Bickel went beyond expectations finding a pharmacy I could order an expensive cream for my treatment ghat I could afford. I feel so much better and 10 months UTI infection free!!!

Dr. failed to put date on x-ray order and the x-ray was put on hold until the office opened at 9:00 a.m. I went early and had to wait at least one and a half hours just to get the info from the office when it opened.

You can improve the wait time that people have to wait to get in to see the doctor when you have an appointment at 11:00. You should be able to get in there at least by 11:10 not 1 hour later. Old people have a tendency to have no patience and it escalate behaviors that really isn't necessary.

This office has always been excellent with my daughter. Dr. Bickel is an excellent doctor, he listens to our concerns and addresses any issues in a timely manner. Clinical staff is very professional and handled prescription refill requests when requested in a timely manner as well. Thank you for everything!

When I was at my visit, my visit was scheduled for 9:30. There was four other people in the waiting room scheduled at 9:30. I got in at 10:30, and my time is as important as yours. That's the only thing that bothered me about the whole thing. When somebody misses 1 appointment it puts you way back. I missed an appointment due to the fact that I was late from your office. Thank you.

I believe you did take care of me really well. I believe the doctor in the nurses are very respectful. I believe they were very helpful. I could have used maybe a little more time to the doctor, but I understand he's a very busy man, and I'm sure we'll have time to talk about more later. During the procedure they'll be probably a few times. I'll get to see him. So I'm not worried about all that and it was a pleasant experience overall. So, thank you very much.

It was my first visit and it just seemed that I waited to see the doctor for about 20 minutes and then once I got to see him it took 5 minutes. But all in all it was okay I guess

Yes. They never seemed to get the prescription that he is calling in to Safeway to me. I went to pick it up today, and there was no call in for my prescription. Now I have to call, I guess, the Pueblos office.

The staff there was wonderful Dr. Bickel spent maybe 5 minutes in the room with me and rushed off to the next person. He left the room only spending a few minutes and that room rushing off to the next room, which was me and I'm going to the next room after not spending enough time to here or explain the procedures that could be done with me. Usually he's you really good about that. And I understand he's behind on stuff because he got sick from this also, but he should have spent more time explaining things and spending more time with his patients instead of moving them out like cattle, kind of disappointed and I've gone there for a long time never had that happen, but I was very disappointed this time. He was just in and out

Due to COVID there is not much else you can do. This was done at the Lamar Specialty Clinic and it is nice to be able to have a specialist come here for treatment instead of having to go to a bigger city.
