About Alan W. Bickel

Dr. Alan Bickel is a Board-Certified Urologist, caring for patients at Urology Consultants PC since 1992.   He earned his medical degree from Texas A&M University.   He completed residency training at LSU Medical Center.   He earned his Urology Registrar during his training at City Hospital, Nottingham, England.   He has extensive experience in treating various urology conditions, illnesses, and injuries as well as extensive experience in minimally invasive surgery for treatment of complex urologic disease.   When not helping his patients, you can find him either scuba diving or ballroom dancing with his wife.

being more in time and respectful, for example wearing a mask - since patient have to do it, I don't see why doctors shouldn't. Being more curious about my personal situation and family history - it was my first (and last) visit with this doctor, in order to better understand my problem. Explain better the result of the exams performed during the visit. Call me to communicate the result of the blood work - I haven't directly received the results and noone called me to communicate them to me.

You had switched over to a new billing system. My Pharmacy kept sending prescription request, like, almost two weeks. You guys didn't even know is in the system. I had to show up there in person and I had to figure out what was going on. So hopefully you got that fixed. That's my only major concern

I waited 50 minutes to be called to the back after my scheduled appointment time. Then waited another 15 min to be seen. After all of the waiting I saw nurse/ Dr less than 5 minutes total.

I was taken in before my appointment time, listened to about my claustrophobia and was prepared for it.Everyting went good in my case.

everything went well until the end with the doctor visit and then he stated he wanted to get an ultrasound to get a better picture. So to do a visual inspection of the issue. And when I got just go schedule that, The scheduler says oh this is a biopsy, this isn't an ultrasound and he had not explain to me at all about biopsy but she tried to but it was too late. I would have rather herd that from a doctor but seemed like he said one thing and they said another.

To me, all the care was very good. There's so much care. The most important was housekeeping. I don't have words to say. I will speak to my family and recommend this place because they provide first class care.

The wait time is ridiculous. The wait time for both appointments was nearly 90 minutes. This is the main reason I would not recommend friends and family to this clinic. This issue seems to go way back and you should have the common courtesy to correct this situation.

At check-in, I did not seem to be entered into the appointment system. After two hours in the lobby, I went to reconfirm my appointment and found the system did not pick up my check-in. My appointment was completed successfully and to my satisfaction. The staff was very helpful and professional.

This office visit was a follow-up on my kidney stones that I had in the past. I am on medication now and shouldn't have that happen again. Dr. Bickel is a good doctor and I'm happy with his care.

Staff is pretty good but it would be good if Dr. Bickel paid a little more attention to me, and actually listened to exactly what my issue was and not be in such a hurry to get to the next person, and he also, left me waiting in the room for what I consider too long of a time. I mean, I was beginning to wonder if they had forgotten me, other than that the staff and all that was really good. When I had a scope done, it was a little bit tense and the nurses. We're kind of giggling and stuff, and but maybe that's normal. Anyway I'm glad it all went well and turned out well. So all is well that ends well right? so overall favorable rating Thank you. Bye.

Doctors office staff tends to be unresponsive for weeks, regarding medical/medication concerns between appointments. We know the office is very busy and did not expect an immediate response but a response was needed. Pharmacy, family and support staff, advocating for individual, contacted the office repeatedly.

I went to him, and he didn't even know why I was there. He said he needed medical records. I went to him again, gave him the medical records. He said, no this ain't good enough, that he needed the actual CD of the CAT scan. Well, he should have told me this the first time, and now I got to wait 4 months before I figure out why my insides are inflamed. Hopefully it's nothing serious, right?

I think Dr. Bickel is very competent physician. His bedside manner is pretty minimal but if you want to talk to him he will listen. He was very very busy and always is it seems to me like he is a Bit overwhelmed. Or maybe just to say that he's always very busy in and out taking care of his patients.

well, it's too early to say, weather the treatment they gave me is working or not. But the one thing I didn't like was my appointment was at 1:00 o'clock, and I didn't get called in until 1:40. That's 40 minutes I had to sit and wait and then to sit in the room and waiting for the doctor to come in and out was kind of ridiculous also. I spent a total of 2 hours at the clinic. Thank you. I felt the doctor was in a big hurry. The few minutes he was in the room I felt as if he was going to bolt from the room. I realize he is extremely busy; however, that seems to be a scheduling problem. The staff was wonderful.

I had some hearing problems at times, but my stepson was along and was able to relate any difficulties with provider. There was one misunderstanding on my part but it will be clarified upon my stepson and Dr Bickle when they talk today. Dr. Bickle is a fine provider and is very thorough.

I was told that my prescription would be called in to my pharmacy. I ran an errand the went to the pharmacy and waited in line 45 minutes only to find my prescription wasn't called in. Very frustrating! I had to call in the next day to have my prescription called in. After the prescription was called in (for real) this time, I received text messages and an call to verify the prescription has been called in. Other than the prescription mishap the office is extremely efficient and I haven't been in an office as efficient ever.

The staff was unable to answer many questions. They put me on hold for 20 minutes. They weren't too sure about the questions, I was asking. And the doctor did not give me information on some other work you wanted done when we were in the office. So that's kind of a fall back on their part, is the receptionist. Thank you.

The nurse that took my blood was inexperienced and stuck me twice, and said I had rolling veins. I give blood pretty regular. I never had a problem. I think she needs more experience before she does that again to anybody. She did bring someone in that did first class blood draw, first time, but the young lady that started needs more experience.
