Artin Terhakopian

Artin Terhakopian, MD, MPH

I was first inspired to become a doctor when I was at the young age of 10, after losing my uncle to a heart attack. I read stories and saw movies of how doctors were able to help people and wanted to do the same.

Dr. Terhakopian is a board-certified psychiatrist. He earned his M.D. through the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS), the only military medical school in the United States, in 2002. He completed a broad-based medical internship and psychiatry residency training at the old Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., where he treated hundreds of Soldiers and their families affected by the trauma of the Afghanistan and Iraq wars. He then earned his M.P.H. back at USUHS and completed a fellowship in Disaster and Trauma Psychiatry in 2008.

Many thousands of patient encounters have honed Dr. Terhakopian's skills in the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of depression, anxiety, alcohol/substance use disorders and particularly PTSD. Because of his training in medicine in addition to the social and psychological sciences, Dr. Terhakopian is able to also assess for medical conditions which can and in many cases contribute to mental health problems. This type of comprehensive evaluation significantly improving the odds of treatment success. Needless to say, no amount of talk therapy can remedy the underlying source of anxiety or depression if and when a mental condition is due to genetic, thyroid, ovarian, pituitary, infectious (e.g. HIV, Syphilis), vitamin deficiency, inflammatory or autoimmune conditions.

Dr. Terhakopian has authored several manuscripts and book chapters regarding PTSD and effects of anxiety on health and well-being. If years of counseling and talk therapy have not improved your mental health, a psychiatric evaluation is the next step.

Dr. Terakopian is just the best. Skilled listener. Brilliant chemist. Surrounded by a supportive staff. What a joy to drive from Springs to Pueblo to receive warm and personal care. Feels a whole lot different/better than our home town docs 45 minutes north. Thanks! I hope everyone at Parkview enjoys a very special holiday this year. v

I been going there for some time and I can't see anything that I could say except for 10 regarding all the girls that work in the office plus the doctor. They're all wonderful people. They're very very nice and I really enjoyed going there.

Nothing I can think of. Everyone was kind, professional, and friendly, from the person who took my vitals at the entrance all the way through. This is an office I know will help me if I am in crisis because that is what they have shown me, so I believe it.
May 26, 2020
All of the staff is great.
May 26, 2020
I stressed at least 2 or 3 weeks in advance, but I was going through a crisis with my wife and I really needed a much earlier appointment then I got.

I realize Dr. T must have a heavy workload and many patients but I consistently feel like he does not listen to me or has even taken the time to read my medical records. It's been extremely frustrating and disappointing. He could also stand to be a little more empathetic and understand that there are certain things you simply do not say to someone living with severe obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD).
